Internet speeds are getting crazy fast these days and Tomato seems to be having trouble keeping up. I have an ASUS RTN-66U with a 100/5 cable internet connection. If I enable QOS with shibby's 108 build, and start downloading something, it just hammers the router. CPU usage goes as high as 4.5 and the router interface is very slow to respond. Even with QOS off, it seems to struggle with full speed. I really like all the features of Tomato but it needs new drivers or something.

Depends on addons you're running (if you run BT then forget to have peace in your CPU...) ;), try other mods to compare.

Preface: in pretty much all books related to QoS there's a phrase that sounds like: QoS helps mitigating network congestion when bandwidth upgrade is not an option (e.g. too expensive). QoS gives priority to a type of traffic when congestion occurs. No congestion no QoS needed. That implicitly means: fast connections don't need QoS. I have a fast connection and still use QoS for policing only.

Having said that: What do your QoS rules look like? Also what is the process using the CPU when downloading?
