Can an unlocked Vonage RTP300 be configured to work w/ Skype? I'm thinking not. It looks like the RTP300 needs SIP and Skype doesn't use SIP, from what I can see. I've got experience w/ networking, but I'm still fairly new to VoIP. Thanks

My RTP300 is running firmware v3.1.17. I was able to find the unlock info in the forums here. Unlock was actually rather simple once I had the firmware image.

You're right on the protocols part, but if you've got your mind set on using Skype with RTP300 whatever the costs, you might want to consider getting an asterisk box and using that as a conversion service between SIP and Skype protocols.
There are a few free services that offer virtual asterisk pbxes, but the last time I've looked none offered Skype support, so I'm afraid you would have to run your own.

    Oh well, worth asking

Ok, I figured that would be the case. I ended up springing for a Linksys CIT2000 for around $70 at Staples. It was a whole lot easier than scouring the net trying to figure out how to unlock the RTP300, and it sounds like it's even easier than what's still needed to get the RTP300 to work w/ Skype. Thanks for the 411.
