Upgrade Firmware and configure router wired and w/out modem?

    is there a way to upgrade the Firmware and configure the router wired and without modem?

    I tried it, but didn't had success. I can't reach the router with!

    I have a wireless connection to my access point router running. Is this the reason?

    You do not need to be connected to any modem to be able to upgrade the firmware. Check the default gateway your PC is connected to .. If you're on Win XP, go to cmd box (Start -> Run -> CMD ..) .. issue ipconfig .. your router IP address should be the same as your default gateway .. and make sure you browser is not set to use any proxy server...

    My default gateway is my "old" router.

    My guess is that your IP address is not in the 192.168.1.X range .. Suggestion, disable your wireless connection .. use wired connection, connect your PC to the 'new' router .. it should get assigned with the correct IP and you could connect to the router at
