I need your help. I currently have a wrt54g v2 and upgraded from hyperwrt to dd-wrt v23 sp2 to check out the different features.

Everything was working fine before but after the upgrade, almost all sites failed to load.

I would be stuck seeing Firefox status be "looking for www.google.com" then i would see "server can not be found"

However when I plug the cable modem directly to the computer everything works fine. I tried going back to HyperWRT but still experience the same problem.

    Any ideas on this one?

Can you get to the GUI of the router at least? If not...you may have bricked it...Look around on how to recover a bricked router...I did the same thing, and thought I had to go out and buy a new one, so I searched for a bit, found what I was looking for, and back to normal....

    Hope this helps

it's not bricked.. i can still log in. in fact i've tried flashing it with other firmwares to no avail, same problem.

Did you reset the router after loading DD-WRT? This is recommended as the settings for it are stored in different places then Hyperwrt.
Do the unplug hold reset button and plug power back in. Hold reset for 30 seconds to reset everything.

do you mean i unplug the router from the power source before doing a hard reset?

no.... with the power on, press the reset button for 30 seconds. this clears the NVRAM settings.

I've done that already. In fact I do every time I reflash to other firmwares in hopes that I get my connection. I've tried flashing to tomato, dd-wrt mini and back to hyperwrt to no avail.

My connection can now find the hosts but the pages don't load. All I see is "waiting for google.com" and the next thing I always see is "problem loading page" and "connection reset by peer".

Again all of this doesn't happen if i plug my Motorola sb5101 directly to my pc.

    Thanks for the help.

I hate to raise something obvious, but this happens to me all the time. :)

Sometimes after manually rebooting (or flashing new firmware) I find that I don't have the WAN IP address from my ISP. I have to click on the "Renew" button several times to get the IP address.

Have you made sure you have a WAN IP address? You would still be able to get to the router if this is the case.
