    Hi everyone,
I just want to know about the difference between firmware version printed on the bottom of my wireless router and the one that is in my routers web control panel. (1.1 and 3.x)
As my second question, should I upgrade it anyway? Can it be harmful and is there any thing to mention about?
    Thanks, Behnam.

    Firmware question response

    Hello Webtik and Welcome!

Are you sure your router has the firmware version on the bottom? It might be the hardware revision of your specific router i.e. 2.2. The number that appears in the control panel interface on your router was simply the latest firmware that was out when your router was put into production. And next the million dollar question. Why upgrade? Well, most of the non-stock firmwares give really cool features like telnet access and the ability to boost the power output to the antennas 2 fold. The only issues i have seen would be heat generation with a severely boosted wireless signal. Happy hunting!

    Thanks for reply Vicious,
You're right, 1.1 on the bottom of my router is the revision of my router hardware and Firmware Version is currently 3.37.7
