Uploading ddclient directly into AG241 (DynDNS problem)

I have problems using dyndns.org free service with Linksys AG241 - it seems to update the IP properly at startup but then, after some time, the domain won't resolve properly. I'm using original firmware 2.01.03, Annex A. I think the Linksys's embedded DynDNS client incopatibility/lack of necessary features causes the problem.

My question: is it possible to replace the firmware with Phoenix and upload ddclient (which I heard to be 100% DynDNS compatible) directly to the router to run on it?

If you have another solution to make this DynDNS working properly please let me know also. I can't use software client because it is a metering device (recorder) that is connected to the network through the router and not a regular server I could run this app on.

Its not quite as easy as that, any new ddns client would have to be built into the router firmware which is a readonly filesystem. No doubt some non-volatile write area can be added in future but here must be lots of hooks inside the router control logic. I suggest you see if the bug also exists in phoenix firmware and if so file a bug report with amiga here, or "Bored Individual" over on the Aus Whirlpool forums. If they can reproduce the bug I'm 100% sure they will fix it faster than Linksys! Either by advising on work-arounds or patching the current ddns client or changing to one of the other ddns/ez-ipupdate/update_dd/ddclient as appropriate. The great thing about opensource GPL is that they can look how it is handled in other firmwares and develop the best.

Thank you for the answer - I'll try with Phoenix and see how it performs.
