My main Linksys box is a WRT54G version 2. On this box, I'm running the Hyperwrt 3rd party firmware. I'm wanting to use the WDS feature so I can link to another Linksys WRT54G box in another part of the house. Unfortunately, my other Linksys box is the dreaded WRT54G version 8. Is it even possible to use WDS with this version? I've enabled ACCESS + WDS on the Linksys box running the Hyperwrt firmware but, as we all know, am unable to run this firmware on the WRT54G version 8. Is this at all possible?

Also, is there any documentation on using WDS? I've searched but was not able to find much.

    Thanks for your help.

Stock firmware for the V5 had lazy WDS enabled. Make your settings identical on the 2 routers, and set lazy WDS on on the HyperWRT router. Leave for a while, and see if the 2 routers connect. If not, then the V8 probably does not have lazy WDS.
