Ill try and explain what i want to do. Ill be getting my router next week and i will use tomato firmware on it.

I get 5 dynamic IP adresses from my ISP. So what i use now is a 5 port switch and all my clients get IP from ISP. Im also getting a laptop next week and need the wireless that is why im getting the router.

This what i would like to do. I want to use the WRT54GL as switch so i get IP adresses from my ISP and same to the wlan.

Can I do this by setting up the wlan password etc. then disable the dhcp in router?
That would probobly make it impossible for me to logon to the router again? If i need to do that can I reset tomato firmware with the resetbutton and logon to the router and set it up again?

Im not very good with these thing so pls explain it to me as you were talking to a 5 year old :)

OK, sit up straight and eat your peas. :D

You don't say what your provider is and what technology they use. If it is PPPoE then the clients would be essentially dual homed and still be able to access the WAP. If not, you can still dual home the client NIC to access the WAP.

No its not PPPoE (im 99% sure its not). I got optic fiber going in to the house that connects to a switch that connects all appartments in the building. All i have to do is plug in a tp cable to the socket in the wall and im connected (100Mbit/10Mbit). I use a switch and connect 3 computers (mine, girlfriends, server) and the box for IP phone.

OK, set the WAP to an IP in a different scope than what DHCP serves. On the PC you want to admin the WAP from, add a second IP in the same scope as the WAP.
