Victek Tomato VPN Speed / cpu

    I just ordered a second router (an Asus WL-520GU) to use as a dedicated VPN client. I already have a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 running Victek's firmware as my main router.

    What sort of bandwidth can you get with a VPN client running on these routers?

    I just tried a test with my HP-G54, and with the VPN client running the CPU was at around 20% while downloading at 1mbps. At that rate it would max out around 5mbps.

    I received the Asus WL-520GU and set it up with Victek's RAF firmware and configured it as a VPN client.

    The cpu is at around 50-70% while downloading at 2mbps over the VPN.

    load average: 0.67, 0.70, 0.62

    I'm guessing it would max out around 3mbps.

    How do other router models handle VPN traffic? Would an Asus N16 make a big difference?

    I get over PPTP vpn 28/20Mbit/s
    Over openVPN whit TUN 8/8Mbit/s whit TAP 11/10Mbit/s
