    A couple of things ..

Firstly I'm running the standard firmware with my WAG354G. I'm fairly happy with it but find there are some really annoying features which I would like to change (such as the piss poor logging and alerting).

I understand that the code is available under GPL - so I guess I could go in and re write the sections I'm not happy about then upload it as new custom firmware.

Has anyone done this and / or knows of any good tutorials for this kind of thing?

Also - are there existing alternative firmware flavours available for the WAG354G and, if so - where can I find a features comparison? (I would love to be able to turn my router in to an IP SEC VPN endpoint).

Lastly - does the WAG354G run telnet and how do you enable it?

    Any info would be appreciated.

Nobody has touched the firmware for WAG354G as of yet and their are no tutorials on offer that I know of. The OpenWRT team are working on it though I believe. I'd like to do some hacking too but I don't know the language used to code it and I can't be bothered to mess with Linux.

WAG354G does not support Telnet unfortunatley. You would have to code it in.

no-one tried it yet, I think the most difficult part is the cross-compiling one...if you succed on cross-compiling the original source then it should be possible to mod the firmware...
