WAG354G v2 - Firmware 1.01.57

    I upgraded the firmware in my WAG354G v2 from 1.01.54 to 1.01.57 and noticed a decrease in the wireless performance. (From a signal 'strength' of 66/100, it dropped to about 26/100 at the same location.)

    Linksys Technical Support weren't able to suggest why this may have been - just suggested I retry the upgrade. That didn't work.

    Found here, that I wasn't alone in having problems with the firmware. I was able to downgrade to 1.01.54, and all's back to normal now.

    Linksys Technical support have logged that I had problems with the 1.01.57 firmware and seem interested to know if others are too. Let them know if you are.

    Exact same problem here: upgraded to 1.01.57, wireless range is now less than half what it was. :mad:

    Is the original 1.0.54 firmware still available?

    Upgrading to the latest 1.01.58 firmware appears to have solved the problem for me. Yay! :biggrin:

    Actually, scratch that comment. The v1.01.58 firmware is definitely better, but range is still poor compared to v1.01.54.

    I contacted Linksys through their Live Chat feature on the website, and the support guy emailed me the v1.01.54 firmware. Installed, works great (just like before)!

    Loss of signal and DSL line disconnects

    I have the same problem with my modem. After I upgraded to .58 my wireless had loss in strength. v.58 is faster via LAN cable but wireless is slow. My DSL line disconnects when I'm not using it. One way out of disconnection was this. While the modem was redialing I picked-up my telephone and after awhile I have my DSL line again. From the stories here I see that once you upgrade you have loss in Wireless speed whatever the version. Now I need to downgrade to see if upgrading gives a problem. Let's see...

    Thanks guys for pointing me in the right direction to reinstall the original firmware. I had exactly the same problems that have been mentioned on this thread and despite using the live chat & a phone call from Linksys the problem only improved slightly. Now I'm back to full speed and strenth. So once again, Thank You.
