Have just set Linksys Wag 54g up as small office network, no problems at
all with network but when I connect the filter and connect the fax machine
to filter it will not allow connection either way out or in ! Any one had
this problem before and maybe a answer please. The main phone line is a
dedicated fax and ADSL by BT and my ISP is Tiscali Broadband. Been in touch with Linksys but they don't seem to have any ideas.Maybe the simple solution would be to ring BT but I don't have a week to spare trying to get an answer from them. Many thanks in anticipation Neovo

If you unplug the ADSL/filter and just plug in the fax does it still work?

When BT set up my ADSL connection they left the normal phone line receiving incoming calls only!

Hi David, no it is just the same with or without the filter, even tried to plug fax in first and then the router but no luck.

I think we are at cross purposes

disconnect the adsl altogether at the BT phone socket take out the filter unit as well.

then just plug in the fax only - can you send and receive faxes now - or if you plug in a phone can you make receive calls?

Prove the analogue line is working OK first!

Did you test the rtc connection ? I've got the same kin of issue with FT, after they connect me to the adsl

I have plugged the fax straight into the phone jack and the fax works ok and I have also tested it with a phone and they work ok .The problem arises when I connect the router and the fax together that they do not work in any combination.Just wondered if any one had experienced this before or will they not just work together. My ISP by the way is Tiscali Broadband.

i've seen a DSL connection stop a fax from working on the same line, though adding a filter between the machine and the phone jack fixed it for me...
