please forgive my stupidity, but I bought this device assuming I could have a wireless network and access point....

Whilst it works reasonably well at being an access point, I cannot make it network between my pc and laptop - I want to use the pc as a storage device for films and photos.

I've managed to see the other device from both machines and share certain folders in principal, but never actually share files.

    Am I flogging a dead horse ?

    Thanks in advance, Elliot.

If you manage to ping your pc from your laptop the wireless link is OK. Then your network issue is cause by you OS setting ( workgroup name ....)

If you successfully share folders then you share files!

Anyway .... Don't forget that you must have the "client for microsoft network" activated on each connection of each computer if you want to share folders.

If you use XP SP2, you must set up properly the FIREWALL of each connection. At first shut it down to make the resolution of this issue easier.

After all that, check NTFS rights.
