Hello, I am an owner of an Linksys WAG54G V.1.2. (no firmware update has been applied).

I´m currently living in a kollegi here in Denmark, and I am using a local connection wich provides me with an internet. Therefore I´m using the router simply as an "router" or switch.

I was wondering if you had any recommended settings for me for it, it seems to be causing some problems. It´s seemingly broadcasting lot´s of MAC addressess (I have disabled DHCP Server), and it´s causing serious problems for the kollegi, and I´ve been closed twice.

I´m thinking about doing an firmware update, but which one should I take, and what do I with it? What software should I get etc.

I am using using the wireless since we have a laptop, I am using there a 128bit WEP enryption.

Every computer has SP2 installed. :drinking:

If you use the WAG as as simple switch / Access point, it normal to get what you have. I think that you won't be hable to solve your problem by a firmware update

You might also have a pc that has been infected by a virus , this can be the cause of your problem

But do I get additional settings if I upgrade my firmware???

Is there a preferred "safe" port on it for the LAN connection???

Isn´t also always a good idead to be using the latest firmware version???

V1.02.7 is one of the best vesion, there are some dsl issue with 1.03 versions.

In any case the only thing that can be improved for you is the wireless if you use it

download the firmware somewhere on this forum.
On youre cabled pc connect to the wag and select the administration tab, next klik on the firmware tab.
Browse to the saved firmware and select it.
    Klik "Upgrade"
Now don't do anything, the wag will reboot it self.
afther one or two minutes reconnect to the wag.
check the firmware level on the right top corner

    good luck.
I am testing firmware 1.03 beta 4 myself.
because of disconnections of the wireless connection
