    Hey all.
I'm a beginner when it comes to networking knowledge, but i'm getting there.

I have a problem regarding my router:

I have one wireless client connected, and myself connect to the Ethernet. I believe that when the wireless client isn't using the internet through the router, my connection works fine, up to the speed i'm happy with. However, when the client begins using it, my speed drops significantly, so much so that sometimes MSN Messenger fails to log in, or I can't access gaming servers. Browsing seems slower also, but those applications can't seem to get any data through them. The Wireless client reports no problems, but I do get them, through ethernet.

I'm not sure if what firmware to upgrade to if that needs to be done, and since I've read of problems upgrading to the wrong firmware, it can kill the router. I don't risk that since It isn't my router. I've tried messing with some settings and no improvement.

I've noticed that when it is running well, the WLAN light doesn't flash as much. When it is slow on my end, it flashes intensly green.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Downloaded that file you mentioned, turned off the router and back on, and I'm operating through the ethernet port.
    I get:

    Unfortunately. Any ideas why?

Where are you living? are you EU? is your Wag using annexA ?

In case you answered yes to the 2 latest question then when you've updated, did you got the progress bar?

If you are EU, annexA and got the progress bar retry this way:

1-Factory defaults (this will erase all the settings, so wrote them before), it's in management menu of the Wag (it will reboot)
2-turn it off wait 30s, turn it on
    3-try upgrading as previous
    4-reconfig the wag

PS default password and user is admin / admin

Use TFTP to load the firmware...

I am living in New Zealand. How can I tell if I am EU or annexA?
When I attempted to upgrade, I did get the progress bar, yes. A few bars appeared before it usually tells me it failed.

I should probably understand if I am annexA beforehand. ;-|

    Thanks so far

New Zealand is not EU(rope). that's why you can't flash it!

You must use the AU (australia) firmware i think.: http://xthost.info/wag/

    Oh, duh. :)
Seriously though, the problem is starting to irritate me.
Going for the New Zealand one.

    EDIT: Updated successfully.

The problem is still there. The speed is still so slow that connecting to MSN fails, other servers fail and browsing is incredibly slow. But the wireless client connected is fine. =/
