hi , i am running wallwatcher with my router wrtg54g logging works ;) but it suddenly stops :S only thing i see in wallwatcher is if i change a setting i see the router mssgs i have the following in my startup script

    /sbin/syslogd -R
    sleep 10
    /usr/sbin/iptables -R INPUT 8 -j logdrop
    /usr/sbin/iptables -R INPUT 1 -j logdrop -m state --state INVALID
    /usr/sbin/iptables -R INPUT 6 -j logdrop -p icmp

EDIT: it logs now but yesterday when i first installed it i did get strange things , ip`s of users i not know where trying to get in my pc via netbios but thats off :p but there is something not right , i get
    not much traffic :S:S

I don't have Hyper loaded anywhere right now so I can't do much checking but I'd guess that the lack of traffic showing up in the logs is because the only things being logged according to the rules you posted is the traffic destined for the router itself. You have no rules to capture traffic from your LAN to the Internet much less any rules to capture traffic that your router forwards from the internet to your LAN PCs...

Where'd you get the commands for the startup script you're using? I'd suggest you try to track down another startup script from someone who's gotten logging working satisfactorily.

    Good luck.

    1. Did you also enable logging in the GUI? (Administration > Log)

    2. Read through the thread you mentioned and noticed that it was a much older version of HyperWRT... not sure if that will cause a problem but I did a quick search and found this thread which is at least a little more current.

    3. You might want to try searching the Linksys forum over at BroadbandReports.com if you can't find the answer here.

    4. I might suggest you consider DD-WRT instead of HyperWRT since logging works great with the latest stable version (v22) and doesn't require any startup scripts etc. (Everything can be controlled very easily from the Administration > Log page as shown below.)

Simply upgrade, no extra steps needed. (Just remember to reset the router to default settings and then reconfigure after the upgrade. A recommended step after all firmware upgrades.)
