    help out a newbie:

The dhcp of my isp is a bit flaky and I have to periodically do a manual release and renew from the router status page. Could someone suggest a way to automate this, some entries in the startup script perhaps? TIA

After much research through the busybox and udhcp documentation, the best I could come up with is the following entry in the startup script.

    echo "0 */6 * * * root killall -SIGUSR1 udhcpc" >/etc/cron.d/renew_dhcp

I'm expecting that this will perform a release/renew every 6 hours. But I'm not really sure yet if it really works. Better suggestions would be much appreciated.

I'm having the same problem with my ISP. Did the solution you posted work for you? Thanks.

yep, it seems to have worked. although i did adjust my release/renew to every 4 hours instead:

    echo "0 */4 * * * root killall -SIGUSR1 udhcpc" >/etc/cron.d/renew_dhcp
