I have been trying to setup a wireless network with a WAP54G as an unwired repeater to a WRT54G and I can not seem to get it to work. I've gone through Linksys' tech support and they don't seem to know what's going on.

I was wondering if anyone has this setup and if it works. Or, if someone knows that this won't work at all. Or if there is just something that I'm missing.

Yes, this works. I am using this setup right now in production at my church with two WAP54G's repeating off a WRT54G. There's a few tricks to this, but the two most obvious "gotcha's" are:

1.) According to my Linksys support rep, you can only use 64-bit WEP as your encryption if you're repeating with the WAP's. Any higher encryption and the WAP will fail due to not enough processing power.

2.) Make sure that on the MAC address to repeat on the repeaters, that you have the WIRELESS MAC address, not the ROUTER MAC address. You have to to the Wireless tab on the router, then look for the MAC address there. It will usually be one number different than the MAC address stamped on the router unit, or in the Status pages.

Those were the two gotcha's that I ran into when setting this up originally. Hope it helps.
