Im running a WRT54GL as my primary wireless router, and I'm setting up a WAP54G at the other end of the house. The two devices are connected directly via Cat 6 cable.

Should I be running the WAP54G in repeater mode? Or as a second AP client?

I had originally assumed that repeater mode was what I wanted, but it occured to me that because the two devices are hardwired to each other I may be better off running the WAP54G as a second access point with same SSID on a different channel.

    What does everyone think?

You should be running it as a access point on a different channel as you indicated at the end of your post. Make certain it is not on a overlapping channel, since ther are only three non-overlapping channels. As a repeater it receives the signal and rebroadcasts it, cutting down its bandwidth in half.
