WDS capabilities: can I do this?

After browsing the forums, it looks like I can use the WDS feature to accomplish some goals I have.

Mainly, I'd like to move my NAS device (or devices) from being directly attached to the router (currently an earlier version WRT54G) to a remote location.

Second, my son wants to have a LAN party in the room next to the router. I suppose I could use a long ethernet cable, and hook it to some kind of box (what kind would be my question) to do this.

Otherwise, it looks to me like a second router with upgradable firmware might do the trick. I gather both routers need WDS capable firmware to accomplish the goals.

Do you think it will work?

Other stuff in the network that might be impacted:

WRE54G repeater (will there be a problem if I put in a second router with WDS??)

WGA11B wireless B game adapter (could this be used for the NAS application??)

Thank you for your help and comments.

    WET: create virtual ET54GS5

    Hi all again.

I am still a newbie at this stuff. But now I'm wondering if I should just buy a cheap new WRT54G (even with firmware 5) and then modifiy my existing WRTG4G (older firmware) to WET mode to create the equivalent of the WET54GS5.

    Would that do the job?
