WDS+WPA+WRT54G Broken after reboot

I have two WRT54G's (one is a v2 and one is a v4). I was running WDS with WEP until recently b/c we had one device that still connected at "B" speed. That device has been replaced, so I bumped the settings to G only, WPA, same SSID...and WDS will work, but only for a while. If either router is unplugged or rebooted, WDS will not reconnect. I have to go into the router and turn off security to get the WDS connection established. After that, I can turn on encryption (WPA, doesn't matter if it's TKIP, AES, or TKIP+AES)...and it will work, but only for a while (until a reboot/unplug). If I bump it down from WPA to WEP, everything works perfectly.

I'm getting the same results with both Tomato and DD-WRT (latest version of each). I've tried re-flashing both routers, erasing nvram, etc., etc. - can't figure this one out.

Using WDS only WPA/AES seem to be stable...

One of my WDS nodes also suffers from this bug using WPS+AES encription and to reconnect I have to power cycle the unit for it to link back up.

Maybe it has to do with signal strength because this only happens on my furthest WDS unit from the main WDS+AP.

Which "wireless mode" are you using? Right now I have both of my WRT54G's set to "Access Point + WDS".
