I have noticed for some time that the Wep Keys generated are different in the Modified Tomato from the Orginal. This has never caused any problems for me untill now. All my net work devices will take either the orginal form ( wep 64 bit 6D7A665989 ) or the new way ( wep 64 bit 0C59F79BCB ). Both are generated from the same phrase. Except my HP 2495 Pocket PC, it will only except the orginal key. It rejects the new one saying its an invalid key. My solution is easy I just paste the orginal Key in to the proper key line in the router and all works fine. So I'm wondering why the change in the first place and second how do network devices determine if someting is or is not a valid WEP KEY. One would think the rules for cheking the key would be the same. Or do most netwrok devices never check and just take what you give them, and then only check to see if they match later?

BTW Pocket PC is running CE OS 5.2 with WM 6.5
Router Asus RT-N16 with Tomato Firmware v1.28.7482 MIPSR2-Toastman-RT K26 USB VPN
