    To the simple questions:

What is the current level of firmware for the WAG54G V1 in England

Why is firmware for V2 offered on the Linksys site

Latest UK firmware for V1 (1.2) Wag is
but the au firmware is worth a try - you can always flash back.

Wag V2 is a Hardware change and this has a different firmware - you cannot mix the two.

If you just bought your wag and it is V1.2 then you have one of the end of line stock of these. New production is of the WAGV2.

The only way to identify a WAG v2 from the packaging is if it has an ADSL2 modem sticker other wise the packaging is identical between the two versions.

It appears that I have an end of line V1 model then

Is it likely that Linksys will continue to add new versions of V1 firmware

MartinC, inless bugs are reported in v1 firmware then no linksys will not add new versions of firmware.

Linksys and most other vendors will only bring out firmware updated to fix issues. however issues have been raised before with the WAG54G and linksys have responded very slowly.

I would guess now there is newer models of the WAG54G that they will consentrate on firmware for those models.

One way which we could see new firmare would be if linksys made the current code opensource, then somebody with knowledge could hopefully create a good/stable firmware which works.

most likely the WAG source is not under gpl license. not all firmware sources are.
