So I bought a WRT54GL and want to try some 3rd party firmware.

BUT I also want the option of going back to the Linksys version.

Problem is, I can't find the .bin file on the CD or US web site. I am aware of the German .bin files, but don't I need the US / English version?

recently converted from netgear to linksys, I bought one of the WRT54GL and want to check out some of the 3rd party firmwares.

Does anyone know where to find the US version of the 4.3x bin files? Or is there a way to download it off the router itself?

    Thanks in advance.

As I know, there is NOT downloadable firmware in binary format for WRT45GL. :(
I installed the DD-WRT some weeks ago, then I've got a bugsy, slow local net. As I hadn't any other good solution, I downloaded from the Linksys site the wrt54g v4 4.20.7 firmware, and it worked fine! As a matter of fact, the WRT54G v4 hardware is theoretically equal to WRT54 GL hardware.
I don't know how you can retrieve the officially WRT54GL firmware out of the router.

    Good Luck!

DD-WRT is a fine firmware! It was my fault, that upgraded the firmware in a wrong way!

Well, some minutes ago at the official Linksys site appeared the new firmware:

Good luck! Go and try 3rd party firmwares! There is way back already!
