I've been running HyperWRT for a long time and I love it. But now I need to see if I can change to another firmware or adjust what I have. I need to be able to set/limit the bandwidth for 2 wireless laptops and a wireless system (I have 2 laptops, a wireless desktop and 2 wired sytems connected to the router)

I want to limit the band with for the wireless sysems through the router or could it be done on each systems through the OS?

    I'm using a wrt54g v2.

    Any ideas or suggestions??

    Thanks, Randy

what sort of speeds are you wanting to set the bandwidth for?

I'd like to be able to set each wireless computer to 10% of the bandwidth (5meg down and 756k up) so the 2 wired systems don't get bogged down (1 is a internet game server that's up 24/7) and the other is my system

I dont know of anything that will limit the speed to 10% of 5Mbit but you could enable QoS and enter the MAC addresses of the 2 wireless devices to have low priority.

DD-WRT firmware would allow better QoS functionality.

you should also add QoS to the Games server so it has High Priority. anything else can have a lower priority. you could also set the wireless transmission rate to 1Mbps and Basic rate to 1-2Mbps in Wireless advanced setup.

Thanks Toxic, I'll give that a shot later and see if it makes a difference.
