I have a WRT54g v.3.1 & 4.0 that I am preparing for WDS. Besides the stated need to use the mini version on the V4 the first time I flash it, do I actually need to use any OTHER version of dd-wrt? Is there specific advantage of using the Standard edition OVER mini? And... should I use the "router specific" versions contained in the ZIP archives at all?

If you search the forum, one of the lead posters here had a quick summary of what is missing from the Mini builds -- the two things that come to mind are Chillispot (hotspot management) and SMB mounting (for mounting Windows shared folders on the router). I don't need anything in STD/VOIP, so I've used Mini on both of my routers since the beginning.

As for flashing, when flashing from the web interface, always use the "generic" image. When doing TFTP flashes, use the specific version.
