    Hey Guys,
I really need to understand which firmware I should use? I have been checking this website for some days and reading a lot of discussions about WAG54G and really confused about the firmware issue. I am not an expert on these firmare issues but I have been facing some problems on my network has a WAG54G. I have one desktop connected to WAG54G and 2 centrino notebooks and have some wireless connection issues. The wireless signal disappears after sometime and have to switch of and on the WAG54G. The original firmware is 1.01.6.

I need to know which firmware I have to upgrade? Whic one is the best (or having the least problems) firmware. Should I simply upgrade to 1.03 beta version? or do you suggest any other firmware.

Besides any firmware bugs in the old versions this issue can most likely be corrected by setting some parameters (it worked with my WLAN at least). You'll always get into trouble if you have more than one wireless client connecting to your Router/Access Point and the clients cannot see each other. When one client is busy with the WAG the other client does not know that the WAG is busy and therefore if it does not receive an answer from the WAG within a certain time the second client regards the WLAN connection as unavailable.

To make an long story short: go the the "Advanced Wireless Settings" page and experiment with the values for "Fragmentation Threshold" and "RTS Threshold". I got mine working with "Fragmentation Threshold = 1500" and "RTS Threshold = 512". The best settings depend on signal quality, signal strength and distance between notebooks and WAG.

    Just my 2 €-cents.
