I am building a 1000 client WRT54G/WRT54GS 802.11g network. I want all my client radios to be the same firmware & hardware.

What is the best Linksys WRT54G or WRT54GS product & version to work with?

The features I must have in a client radio are:
    - 802.11g
    - NAT (with port forwarding)
    - DHCP server for the client LAN
    - QOS & Bandwidth control - traffic shaping
    - a client WRT54G radio version supporting many new firmware upgrades

Features I would like to see but not urgent:
    - 802.1q vlan support
    - signal quality indication status report
    - support to better handle VoIP calls
    - snmp support that MRTG can talk to
    - snmp traps sent to a linux server
    - syslog to a syslog server
    - ability to see client arp table
    - bandwidth status graphs for throughput and connection speeds
    - - - AND - - -
    - auto power adjustment setting which will find and maintain the optimum transmit strength to maintain a good connection speed. If the client can connect at 54 Meg at 12 mw to an access point, then there is no need to have it sitting at 80 mw - this may help keep the total noise down to other access points and other clients on those access points.

Go for the WRT54GS. And Alchemy firmware by Sveasoft (or a fork from it) will be an excellent choice.
