Will Advanced Tomato e4200 Firmware Work With e3000 Router?

I have a Linksys e3000 router I would like to install Advanced Tomato on, but I don't believe there are any official AT releases for the e3000. My understanding though, is that the AT releases use the Shibby releases, and just update the GUI, so the AT e4200 release is based on the Shibby K26 releases (which do support the e3000).

Would the e4200 AT release then work with the e3000? Is there a particular functional reason why each AT release is only listed as compatible with a single router, or are those just the routers they've officially tested it on?

    Thanks

    Hi froglegs,
as I have an Advanced Tomato building enviroment ready for other purpose, I just compiled a version compatible for Linksys E3000. The problem with this model is the small flash memory of 8 MB, so the only version that actually can create is the MiniVPN (NTFS=y OPENVPN=y BBEXTRAS=y USBEXTRAS=y MULTIWAN=y EBTABLES=y MEDIASRV=y IPV6SUPP=y B=M BUILD_DESC="miniVPN" USB="USB" BTGUI=y PPTPD=y NO_JFFS=y).
If you want to try it I give the download link:
    E3000USB-1.28.AT-RT-N5x-MIPSR2-3.4-138-miniVPN.bin

    I hope that help you.

Happy new year to everybody !!!!

    Vin

Thanks a bunch for that. I feel like a bit of an idiot as I never even thought to check the flash memory size (for some reason I remembered the E3000 as one of the (relatively) higher-end models / I just assumed it was larger than that, but I guess it was older than I thought).

Anyway, thanks again, appreciate you taking the time to compile / put that up.

@froglegs Welcome, I'm happy if this has been usefull for you. Anyway if you want to try others Tomato versions availables for E4200, you can replace the first 4 digits on .bin compiled firmware from "4200" to "61XN", as I've seen this is the only difference between E4200 and E3000 firmware (I've checked compiled versions with text comparing tool and the source code also), of course use only firmwares less than 8 MB size (otherwise you'll brick the router).
Thank you for the like (my first one). :)

I have linksys e3000 and use firmware tomato-E3000USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.RT-MIPSR2-137-Big-VPN. Can I upgrade and use the one you posted? thank you very much..

@Marcus Vinicius You can use that version but you loose some features included in the Big-VPN version:
NO NFS Server, NO NoCat Splash, NO DNScrypt-proxy.
That Mini-VPN version have included CIFS client more than Big-VPN.
Of course have all the updates and upgrades of the version 138 vs 137 that you're using now and you have also the GUI of Advanced Tomato instead of the one you're actually using (Shibby).
You can also use new version of Shibby's firmware in the versions VPN or Nocat-VPN, downloadables directly from Shibby's page at this links:
    tomato-E3000USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.RT-MIPSR2-138-VPN.zip
VPN version: NO Bittorrent client GUI, NO NFS Server, NO NoCat Splash, YES CIFS client, YES DNScrypt-proxy.
    tomato-E3000USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.RT-MIPSR2-138-Nocat-VPN.zip
Nocat-VPN version: NO NFS Server, YES Bittorrent client GUI, YES NoCat Splash, YES CIFS client, YES DNScrypt-proxy.
Remember that, for any firmware you want to load, you need to erase NVRAM settings after upgrade firmware, so need to configure again all the router's settings and features.
I hope this informations will help you.

@Marcus Vinicius You're welcome. The Advanced Tomato firmware MiniVPN that I've posted is only 7,72 MB and use the GUI of your screenshot, you can use it without any problem.
Also the other 2 firmwares from Shibby are less than 8 MB size, of course I've checked it before to post the links.
    Happy to help you.

The link to File Dropper that you've provided above appears to no loner be valid (it re-routes to File Dropper's homepage). Any chance you could re-upload it somewhere else?

    Thanks!
