I've looked around the Internet and looked on this forum to see if anyone will ever support WDS on a WRV54G. I know it is a high end router but it has been displaced by a new router and would like to use it as a range extender.

If the answer is "no". Is there a reason why? Such as the population available? Limitations of hardware? Either way, I'd just like to know why before I sell it.

Short answer is "no". Search around in these forums and you'll find several (old) posts about the WRV54G. Several people here on the forums owned one at one point or another as it had so much promise. Unfortunately Linksys moved on to other products including the relatively inexpensive WRV200 and WRV210 and never fully developed this product. I suspect that there was some issue with the firmware, which was not developed in-house but was rather developed by a company called Jungo. Unlike other devices, the firmware was never released with *all* of the sourcecode necessary to build third-party firmware from its Linux kernel internals.
