I have my Asus RT Ac68 with Freshtomato 2018.3 set to Wireless Client Mode (2.4) to connect to a xfinitywifi (Open / Captive Portal / MAC Authenticated AP) and as an AP in 5.8.

The problem I am having is that I can not get net access upon boot up. Wan Status shows everything is fine with a global IP. A release / renew of the Wan link fixes everything.

What do you guys suggest so that I do not have to release / renew the wan link everytime upon startup.

    Thank you,

Release the lease prior to shutting down or rebooting the router.

I had a typo in my post. I can not access the net upon boot up.

This is quite likely an issue ( or behavior, depending on who's asked ) with the xfinity AP and not your router. Manually releasing the lease before you reboot or shutdown the router is probably going to be your best, if not only, recourse.

Perhaps create a startup script that does it for you? Try putting the following code in your Administration -> Scripts -> Init section:

    sleep 25
    dhcpc-release wan
    sleep 5
    dhcpc-renew wan
