Wireless throughput benchmark

I'd like to cross-check the performance of my setup with other members on the forum. I've got x2 WRT5GL's setup in WDS mode with transmit power set to 200mW and custom antennas. Both are with TOmato v1.2.3. They're configured to transmit and receive on one antenna and the typical connection rate is -63dBm / 33%. Wireless security is WPA-AES. The throughput I get when transferring large files (>350Mb <700Mb) over wireless is around 10-11Mbps.

Being 54Mbps routers, is there anything I can do to improve transfer throughput (besides boosting the power or moving them closer to each other) ?

Any help is appreciated. TY :)

Those figures sound about right to me, since WDS basically cuts throughput in half, and I rarely get better than 20Mbps on large transfers (without WDS).

But just for kicks you might try turning your transmit power DOWN (to say, 84-100mW), as some people only notice more distortion above those levels.

Thanks astehn - will try and lower it and see what effect it will have.
