    I'm at my wits end here! I'm sure that there's something I'm doing wrong, I've tried a lot of different things, and am about ready to rebuild my PC as a last resort.

    I'm running WinXP SP2.

    So far, I've:

    * Installed the card
    * Downloaded and installed the v4.1 driver from Linksys, and used only the driver plus WZC
    * Downloaded and installed the RALink driver package (the RAConfig's dated 19/9/06), and run the card using the RALink config, disabling WZC.
    * Updated the card's drivers, using the RALink RT61 driver. The card's now using driver version, dated 7/9/06.

    After all of this, I'm still experiencing significant packet loss. The packet loss is worst when browsing the Internet or gaming, but I also get it simply pinging the router (a D-Link DSL-G604T). I'm fairly certain that the problem's not environmental - I run a laptop with an inbuilt wireless adaptor right next to the PC experiencing all the hassles, and it connects and performs flawlessly, including gaming. Which also makes me think the router itself is fine (I've updated its firmware to the latest available as well).

    Help! I'm not sure what to try next.

    I've read about other people having problems with packet loss, and talking about how the RALink drivers fixed their issues - I'd love to get to that point too, but am having real issues! At the moment, the PC's almost unusable wirelessly (and my girlfriend's probably not going to appreciate it if I have to run a CAT5 from the kitchen to the spare room so I can connect sans-wireless! And I'm not so keen on spending heaps to get a 2nd phone line put in yet..)

    I've tried running the router over channel 6 and 11, I've tried temporarily disabling all security just in case that was causing issues...i'm out of ideas here.

    Does anyone see anything that I'm missing? Is it possible that the issue isn't with the card itself, but with my Windows installation, and reinstalling from scratch may help out here? I'm happy to provide any extra info that might help here...

    I had the same issues with lag spikes thru the roof every minute, went as far as Linksys replacing the WMP54G. Installed the new one with the same results. This went on for over a month. Everyone said not to use the Linksys Monitor software that came with the adapter so I didnt. So one night I couldnt sleep thinking about this. So I tried something for s**ts and giggles...

    I disabled WZC and uninstalled RALink driver. Installed the Linksys monitor software and let it connect to my secure network. Loaded up Call of Duty and started playing..... HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY. The lag is gone, the disconnects are gone, the every minute lag spikes are gone, the packet loss is gone. Its been a month now and have had no issues. My hardwaired PC gets DL speeds reaching 12,000. Wireless desktop and laptop get 10,000.

    So my family members are happy once again.
