    Has anyone else noticed significant differences between the different versions of the WPC54G PC Card?

    What I mean by differences is when swapping between the following card versions:

    v1.2 = speed: 54mbps - strength: good
    v3.0 = speed: 5mbps, 11mbps and 24mbps - strength: low - extremely low
    v5.0 = speed: 5mbps and 11mbps - strength: extremely low
    v7.1 = speed: 54mbps - strength: good.

    I've got a WRT54G v2.2 router running the latest DD-WRT firmware. I ensured that I was sat in the exactly the same spot with a reasonable distance from the router. I made sure I got the latest WPC54G drivers from Linksys and I repeatedly got poor signal on the v3 and v5.

    This has been foxing me for a while and not until I got my hands on a v7.1 could I verify my thoughts.

    Anyone else noticed similar issues between the adaptor versions or even an idea why it happens?
