When booting my laptop it takes forever (~2 minutes) for the card to find and connect to my access point (WAP54G). Anyone experienced something similar?

this has happened to me when there are multiple access points with the same SSID (ie if you have repeaters or a WDS link set up). It seems windows is really inefficient when it comes to determining the best AP to use. Try letting the linksys/broadcom utility (depending on which driver you use) to configure your wireless settings.

    Thanks for replying!

Problem is that I've only got that one access point. Are there any setting that could make it connect faster because its pretty annoying to just sit there and stare and the laptop for two minutes before one is able to go online...

    Thanks in advance.

I had this problem witht he linkys wireless monitor, switching to Windows WZC solved the problem - make sure you have one or the other but not both enabled.

We have a wireless network covering 110 acres, using 4 D-Link DWL-2700APs on towers in AP Mode, and they all have the same SSID. Of course, though, they are all set to different channels. We haven't had any problems with Windows connectivity. In fact, when we're driving across property, the laptop will find the strongest tower and connect automatically.
