Whats the difference between the WPC54GX Ver1, Ver 2 and WPC54GX4 cards? The LinkSys site has no mention of the Ver2 card at all but that is what I have (printed on the card itself) What is the current driver for this card? Also the WPC54GX says it has SRX400 capibilities when used with SRX400 router. If that is the case what is the GX4 card for? Any clarification here would be appreciated. (I am wondering if the Ver2 card is the same as the GX4 card, just a new name) Thanks for any info.

Between the WPC54GX V1 and V2 I don't know, probably just a chipset change. I have run both on my WRT54GX4 router(couldn't get my hands on a WPC54GX4 at first). The WPC54GX will take advantage of the SX400's extended distance, but it will only connect at a max of 108mbps, while the WPC54GX4 will connect at 240mbps.

Corrected to say WRT54GX4 not 3.

The most current version for the WPC54GX v1.0 is and for the WPC54GX4 v1.0 is 1.0.09. There is no information for a WPC54GX v2.0 on the FCC OET generic search web site. Where does the WPC54GX say it has SXE400 capibilities, when used with a SRX400 router?

Sorry, I misread. I see now it was WRT54GX and WRT54GX2 (SRX200) are the two routers and it will have the better range with the 54GX if used with it. NOT the 54GX4. Sorry for the misunderstanding . I guess the Ver 2 is too new to show up on LinkSys site as of yet. Also the driver that came with it is ver (April 13,2005) so I guess that is the latest.

On a side note, will the WPC54GX4 offer any benefits over the WPC54GX when used with the SRX200 router?

I was looking for info on the latest WRT54GX2 driver. This thread is the first I have seen ANYWHERE regarding this card. I have ver driver installed but have had intermittent connection problems after recently switching from wep to wpa/tkip.

I wonder if the key length has anything to do with my problems? Perhaps I should trim the key back some...I picked up a key from the www.GRC.com "Perfect Passwords" Generator and it works but my laptop has lost connection a few times. Router is a WRT54GX-v2 with Firmware Version: 2.00.15

    Thoughts anyone?
