WPS54G-UK : How I got it working along with WPA

I decided to take the plunge and purchase a WPS54G-UK Linksys Printer Server, despite many of the apparantly dire warnings, since the rest of my wireless kit is Linksys (WRT54G and WPC54G).

Out of the box using the CD Install program my wireless kit could not see the Printer Server in any fashion, even after disabling all security. Since it's MS Windows I tried the old support desk addage "if in doubt, reboot" - so I did a hardware reset on the Printer Server (as per guidelines given) - and presto! Refreshing the Install CD Scan facility picked up the Wireless Printer Server.

After that it was easy to configure it back onto my network including WPA-PSK/TKIP (sorry no AES with firmware 6046) and now it works a treat. I've now set up four machines to use it including laptops and desktops, wireless cards and Centrino.

The WPS54G-UK is attached via USB to a HP LaserJet 1010 Laser Printer.

The only thing I'm not sure whether to do is to set the IP address of the Wireless Printer Server to a static one (say or leave it as dynamic.

Basically, using the hardware reset solved my initial problem (plus turning off all security including MAC filtering).
