WRE54G and port forwarding

Discussion in 'Other Linksys Equipment' started by tapeloopghost, Jun 7, 2008.

  1. Okay, so here's my situation:

I have a 2wire dsl modem/router on one end of the house connected to my parent's computer. The other two computers are at the other end of the house.

Now. I can connect these to the modem via wireless, but the signal is very weak, so I set up a WRE54G v.3 to close the gap. After a couple headache-inducing hours I got everything set up and the network is running beautifully.

BUT! Then I tried to set up port forwarding to use a bittorrent client. Port forwarding works fine when I connect directly to the modem, but the signal keeps cutting out because it's so weak. When I access the internet through the WRE54G the port forwarding doesn't work since I'm connecting to the linksys rather than to the modem. The linksys' firmware is useless since it has no port-forwarding options, so I'm at a loss.

After googling around for a few hours I haven't found any help nor have I even found someone with a similar problem, so my question is this:

Has anyone else had this problem and/or does anyone know how to resolve the issue?

    Thanks and appreciation in advance!

ive had my wre 54g for the past two months and i cant use it. I cant link it to my router if the router has a password. i gave up trying a month ago and now i have gathered enough patience to try again.
Hope someone can help me out.
