I tried setting up a friends new WRK54G router and the supplied PCMCIA card, all went ok, set up WPA-PSK and all ok. Following day, the connection to the router from any pc, wired and wireless, is up and down. In the end I hade to hit the reset switch as I couldn't log in to the admin console!

Setting it up this time, I noticed that as soon as I applied WPA-PSK, the data rate dropped to 1mbps and signal strength was varying wildly. I tried different channels on the router but no difference.

what do I need to do to get these two to work securely? In the meantime they are working on the MAC filter just to allow the laptop onto the network.
