I have a WRK54G router, 1 wired computer, 2 wireless. One wireless uses a WUSB54G and the other uses Mac OS X & a built in AirPort. The two wireless computers are not very far from the router (25 feet at most), and they have horrible connections. Moving the computers right next to the router, the connection is perfect. I know of people with the same router who have it in their basement and get perfect connection on the 2nd floor!

The wireless computers constantly disconnect for about 5 seconds and then reconnect. Anybody know of what settings I can change to fix this? Or maybe relocating the router? (It's currently next to a computer screen & about two feet from the nearest wall. Four feet off the ground on a desk, and the wireless computers are on the same floor as the router.)

Also, is it possible that my internet signal isn't strong enough for the router to broadcast it very far? The signal strength on the modem is about -4.5dBmV.

    Thanks for the help.

Trying to move the router wouldn't be a bad troubleshooting step. Additionally you might want to try using a different channel. You should be using either 1, 6, or 11. (Assuming you're in the US)

Also if you have any 2.4Ghz phones they could be causing interference. Try unplugging them and see if the connection improves.

    Good luck.
