i understand that the wrt 54g v5 is different from all of the other wrt 54g series in that it has less ram and a smaller flash but i was wondering:
1 is there any other differences (open wrt shows them as having the same processor\platform though i have read that they are different quite different)
2 does sveasoft have a fw for the v5 if so is it also vxworks or linux
3 if the v5 is similar enough to the v4 what would would happen if a different fw(say a v4) was forced to it(i realize that this is a huge if but still im curious)
4 the open wrt fw image i loaded to my v4gs and v2.2g (openwrt rc4) was well under 2m so is it the ram thats the problem?

did some more reading and it seems that the v5g and the v4gs and according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WRT54G the v3-4gs and the v5g both use the BCM5352EKPB chipset so barring linksys doing something to change the hw so current 3rd party fw doesnt work and ram being a limitation it "should be at least possible" right ?

    Possible yes. Available currently, no.

    Don't hold your breath.

Simplest thing is return the v5 if you can, order a WRT54GL or GS unit.
