WRT350N Storage problem

I can't detect any USB storage device attached to my WRT350N (Firmware ver 1.03.2) regardless of file system type or Flash Drive size.

The web page indicates "There are currently no available disks."
and "No disks are currently defined" (see attached picture).

Investigating this issue further got this:
    1) Attaching 256MB Flash Drive:
USB led flashes for 55 seconds and than turned off - USB inaccessible.
    2) Power cycle Router with with USB inside:
Rounter initializes for a long period, USB led flashes and eventually USB is visible after some long time
    3) Performing "Safe Remove":
USB led is still on - seems like a bug
    4) Repeating this with any other Flash drive (128MB, FAT32) or Mass Storage Disk (160GB, NTFS) results in a long init time but the disk is not accessible - even after long wait.

This investigation results makes me beleive that the router reads all the file system blocks (why?) and makes a long init which might fail in the middle - looks like a severe bug to me.

could anyone assist with resolving this ? thanks
