I am wanting to share my internet connection w/ my friend. He lives 4 houses down. Its about 350 feet away. I have a wrt45g router. What do we need to be able to do this? or can we? Like what type of antenna, firmware do I need?

you could try using a firmware that allows signal boost however i would think you would need directional antennas for both your WRT54G and your friends wireless device.

try http://www.freeantennas.com/ for boosting the signal as well.

When using frimware to boost the output, what should I set it to. I don't want it to &#%$ up the router. I want to get the most out of it I can at a safe level the router can handle.
