wrt54g issues with many things

    ok yesterday i just bought a new wrt54g and for HOURS ive tried many ways to figure how to establish an internet connection, sadly i was not able to do it... ive also tried to upgrade the firmware, but the router wouldnt let me, and it said "you are failed" i think(as if the one i bought was a fake o.o) and ive tried following the instructions from the cd, but at the end it was not able to detect any connection.....any tips/guide? id really appreciate it, and im sorry for being such a noob

    p.s if i dont find a way to make my router work with the internet ill have to return it and go back to my netgear

    First, which version of the WRT54G did you buy, what is the Operating System on the your PCs, what Wireless NIC are you using? Are you using any form of encryption? Are you using static IP Addresses? If you are using static IP Addresses, the DNS server addresses from the Router Status screen have to be copied to the TCP-IP setting along with the local address of your WRT54G with a subnet mask of
