I have a WRT54G sending a signal to an intel wireless laptop card.

Every once in a while (could be 6 hours, could be 5 days), the wireless card stops receiving the signal. It says that it's still connected at low at 1mb/s. In reality it's not connected, I can't access the internet or the router (remote management is enabled).

The only way to get it to work again is to reboot the WRT54G, then it works perfectly until it decides to stop receiving again. What do I do?

Firmware is HyperWRT 2.1b1 tofu15c. Thanks for your help.

Before you blame the router try disabling and enabling the wireless adapter and see if it reconnects.
