I have a Linksys WRT54G router; I would like to attempt to upgrade the firmware to Satori: I'm not experienced in these matters and am requesting help; thanks in advance!

The WRT54G is ver 1.1; the firmware (identified on the IP address page) is 1.42.2. Should I upgrade the Linksys firmware to v. 3.01.6 prior to proceeding to the Satori update??

    Thanks for any assistance.

It should be as simple as flash the firmware; 30 second reset (hold reset button for 30 seconds) and you should have satori on the router. Note that you need to be patient when flashing and ensure you disable and applications like software firewalls that could interfere with the flash process. Basically wait for 1 minute after you recieve the flash success page before doing the 30 second reset.

I did my first upgrade to Satori last night. It worked fine with no trouble. I thought I had bricked it when I couldn't connect after resetting, but the problem was my firewall on my PC (I hadn't disabled it). Now I'm working through the steps to configure it to connect to my other wrt54g to bridge my network.

Also just flashed Satori (near-total noob)

I just flashed with the latest Satori, and am confused about which mode to set it up with. I'm wanting to connect to a wireless lan in range, (to which I know all the I.Ps and Mac addy's) and use the wrt54g for my internet connection, through a wired connection to my pc.

I had a connect-gear wap set up working in bridge-mode point to point, and once the ip's and mac addy's of both ap/routers was set up it worked fine. I'd like to know how to use the wrt54g with satori to provide the same functions, ie: connect a pc to the internet over the nearby wan with the wrt54g, through a wired connection. I'd also like to repeat the signal, if possible, to include a wider coverage area.

( If it would be simpler to put a wireless card on the pc I could do that too)

I've read around and am having a hard time understanding what I'm reading, I'm a near-total noob when it comes to wifi, and networking. If someone can help set me straight I'd appreciate it. I'm not even sure the Satori firmware will do what I'm wanting it to do, but thought this would be a good place to ask. Thanks in advance.

I'm using Satori-4.0 v2.07.1.7sv on two wrt54g routers. I used the directions I found on this site for bridging (written for a different firmware) as a reference and just played with it until it started working.

I did just find a forum on this site that would have been helpful. If these setups work, I could have saved myself the frustration of nearly bricking my second router.

I am a noob as well and barely understand some of the configuration settings I am using. I am ok with just using the wrt54g with regular wireless devices, but getting two wrt54g's to communicate is a little tougher.

    Good luck!
