I've had problems where my wifi connection on my Wrt54g router would randomly drop signal. I could be 1 foot from the thing and it could not find the SSID.

I then noticed that the thing was getting quite hot! I flipped the router up so that the face is pointing down and the unit is sitting vertical as to allow air to pass through the vents. I stuck my 7dbi antennas upwards (angled) of course.

So far the connection has not dropped once, and it has been quite a few days now. The unit is also much cooler.

Anyone think this really could be it? Or maybe I've just been having extremely good luck the past few days!

Could very well be, heat will cause all kinds of issues.
