    Hi and happy new year...

I've just received a 54G-TM i've bought on E-Bay... This router is already flashed with dd-wrt2 (DD-WRT v24-sp2 (11/25/09) big) and modified to support overclocking (with a heatsink mounted).

I would like to install Tomato on it... so i've googled and see alot of articles about flashing this model with Tomato. As english is not my native tongue (as you may noticed it) i'm not sure i have fully understood all the steps.

Most of them seems rather old so i wonder if they are still topical.

Could you confirm/infirm the following process :

    1. telnet on the router and get the http passwd with a "nvram get http_passwd"
    2. get the tomato firmware
    3. install it via the dd-wrt web interface, with resetting option
    4. if needed reenter the password obtained in step 1

Yesterday, i've successfully flashed my "old" 54GS v1 from Sveasoft Alchemy" to Tomato only with steps 2 and 3... all went fine..

But, when it comes to 54G-TM, all articles seem to be more complicated, hence my questions...

Any advices would be greatly appreciated :)

All that you need to do is from the Firmware Upgrade tab in dd-wrt select from the drop down "reset to default settings" and browse to the tomato firmware and send the upgrade like so.

Correct. I was able to get one of the WRT54G-TM routers and they are awesome. To go with it, I decided to build a custom firmware by merging the best mods out there.

Teddy Bear mod Build 41 has worked extremely well for me on a WRTSL54GS and the SgtPepperKSU mod provides awesome VPN capability so I created a merge of Build 41 + SgtPepperKSU 1.27vpn3.5.

    tomato-ND-USB-8741-VPN.trx - USB + VPN Normal build
    tomato-ND-USB-8741-VPN-Ext.trx - USB + VPN Extras build
    tomato-ND-8741-VPN.trx - Non-USB + VPN build (Perfect for a WRT54G-TM)

Thanks a lot!... I will try it tonight on the TM.

[Edit: Ok, it's done... My TM is now with Tomato... BTW: the SES light is always off... it was alway on with dd-wrt]

If you want to control the LED click on the 'Administration' tab and then 'Button / LED'

That's the first thing i've tried

But nothing changes.... That said, that's not a critical feature...
