WRT54g v1.0 issues lately - RMA?

    I have a first generation wrt54g router. I have had wifibox, satori, and hyperwrt firmware on it in the past. Lately my router has started acting very flakey. I went back to the latest linksys official firmware and reset to defaults a few times in different ways.

    -Every so often my desktop that is hard wired will get a cable disconnected popup in XP. Of course, this causes my connection to reset.

    -Wireless drops at the same time when my machine does, wireless never used to drop, small apartment

    -When surfing the web I will get "unable to find host" errors for sub pages of a page I just loaded successfully. It seems sometimes I lose connection and do not get the cable disconnected error

    -I currently have the wrt54g has a secondary router, I added a backup router, no problems here until I go back to the wrt54g. So this is not a cable provider or cable modem issue.

    Does anybody have experience with Linksys RMA's? Will they even try to help me? How should I proceed?

    I have no personal experience with RMA'ing a unit to Linksys for repair, but personally I'd suggest you proceed by finding the best source for a new, v2.0 or v2.2 WRT54G. Your v1.0 is obviously WAY out of warranty, and with the new ones available for not much over $50 these days, I bet the cost to ship and repair your old one will end up being as much or more than just buying a new, up-to-date model.

    upnp problem perhaps? is it enabled on the WRT54G? try disabling this and see if the issue still shows.

    check yous cables and connections into all devices.

    make sure you reset the router pressing the reset button for 30 seconds first of all.
