WRT54G V2.2 seems to give up - steps to take?

    Hello everybody

    For almost two years I've been a happy user of an WRT54G V2.2 (after having disposed of junk like D-Link or Netgear) - everything worked fine 99%. Until a few days ago.

    First, one of the machines in my LAN (wired) had trouble connecting to the internet. After replacing the software firewall on it everything seemed to work again.

    But then I got problems accessing shared folders in LAN on every machine (2 wired desktops, 2 wireless laptops). The problems started to occur in any combination between them, so misconfiguration on the machines themselves could be ruled out. It had to be the router. I reset, upgraded Linksys firmware - no success.

    Then more problems occured, internet access was only possible for a few seconds via wireless, then it dropped again, netbios only worked shortly after the pc to be accessed was rebooted (and sometimes not even then).

    I then tried flashing latest DD-WRT (+hard reset) - no change.

    Finally, internet became inaccessible even on my main PC, so I had to plug the modem directly into the PC and give up on the router. I don't think there's much left to try?

    So this is what happened so far. I had already accepted the fact that I have to buy a WRT54GL (right choice?) tomorrow and sell the other one as broken on ebay.

    But only now I read about the 3 years warranty - would it work in such a case? That would be great of course. Perhaps I could even persuade the dealer to replace it and send mine to Linksys (if he can be sure he gets it replaced).

    When it's sent to Linksys, should I replace DD-WRT with original firmware before, or don't they care about this?
